Our team continues to meet and confer with the Department of the Navy (DON) staff to push your claims. Unfortunately, only a very few claims (less than 500) have been resolved and paid under the Elective Option Settlement program.
As noted in previous newsletters, the following injuries are receiving DON priority consideration: Kidney Cancer, Liver Cancer, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Leukemias, Bladder Cancer, Multiple Myeloma, Parkinson’s Disease, Kidney Disease/End Stage Renal Disease, & Systemic Sclerosis / Systemic Scleroderma.
It is important to note that these diseases are subject to an administrative established latency requirement added by the DON as noted below:
“The earliest date of diagnosis or treatment must be not less than two (2) years after the claimant’s first exposure and not greater than thirty-five (35) years after the claimant’s last exposure.”
While the DON reviews EO qualified claims, we continue to work on collecting and uploading documents, to making all claim files complete, for future review by the DON.
Also, as a reminder, please always update our team for any address, email or phone number changes. Updates may be sent to Brooke’s attention by replying to this newsletter update or emailing her at brooket@blalocklegal.com
Thank you again for your service and allowing the Blalock team to represent you.
Sincerely,
Harry Blalock
